Milagu thattai/pepper thattai/thattu vadai

Sindhuraj     23:35:00     deep fried goodies, snacks, thattai, thattu vadai     No comments

Thatti is quite popular dish around south India. One of my favourite savoury snack. I made this for krishna jayanthi and forget to share here so posting it as diwali snack.

I used to buy this as prasadham in temple during my childhood. Now I'm so glad that I had made it by my own.

Hope you will love it and give it a try also don't forget to share your experience with me.

Preparation time:10 minutes
Cooking time:10 minutes

  • Butter 3/4teaspoon
  • Channa dal 1teaspoon

  • Asafoetida a tiny pinch
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying

Method:

Soak channa dal in water for 10 minutes.
In a mixing bowl, add in rice flour.
In a mixer jar,add in roasted gram, pepper and curry leaves. Grind it to coarse powder and add this to rice flour.
Add in drained channa dal,s alt, melted butter and mix well.
Add in water little by little and make a soft pilable dough.
Take lemon sized dough ball and flatten it using plastic wrap/cover.
Make it as thin as possible else it won't be crispy.
Prick holes using fork this helps from puffing.
Deep fry it in medium flame till it turns golden brown.
Drain the excess oil in tissue/newspaper.
Have a great snack.
